OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Early Childhood Education

The OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Early Childhood Education develops learners' understanding of child development theories, focusing on developmental patterns, the impact of the environment, and contemporary education trends. Learners will explore creating supportive learning environments, adapting to individual needs, and applying current pedagogical practices. Topics include social, emotional, and cognitive development, play-based learning, working with families, identity formation, and supporting children with additional needs. Upon completion, learners can progress to further study in Early Years professional settings.

The Level 5 Diploma consists of 6 mandatory units:
Exploring Early Years Pedagogy and Best Practices
Understanding Child Behaviour: Theoretical Perspectives and Insights
Inclusion and Diversity: Supporting Children with Special Needs and Disabilities in Early Education
Safeguarding; Child Protection and Keeping Children Safe
Emerging Literacies in the Early Years and Digital Resources
Understanding Transitions in Early Childhood

Learners are likely to meet at least one of the following criteria:
• Relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent qualification
• GCE Advanced Level in 3 subjects or equivalent qualification
• Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience
• Centre will determine your English language proficiency if you are not from a majority English speaking country
